Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic individual who enjoys working with entrepreneurial companies, excels in a fast-paced environment, is curious, enjoys providing a high level of service and welcomes the challenges that come with change, learning new online software tools, and managing priorities. This role will be client-facing and lead the client onboarding process personally and with internal staff to ensure a streamlined and effective (quality and efficiency) client experience. This position builds and implements a comprehensive, client-focused, and scalable onboarding process for all e2E clients. Executes all client accounting onboarding tasks and is responsible for client and internal staff engagement throughout the process. Provides outstanding communication, accounting knowledge, coordination, project management, problem solving and trouble shooting skills to entrepreneurial clients by performing the following duties.

This position will be based in the Kansas City, MO area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. 

  • Builds and documents a comprehensive, client-focused, and scalable client onboarding process for e2E
  • Creates, owns, and manages onboarding for client onboarding and is responsible for client communication, engagement, and satisfaction
  • Attends prospect introduction calls and understands parameters of client engagements
  • Creates onboarding plan and monitors client timelines and internal SLAs, ensuring both are met or exceeded and proactively communicates any deviations or schedule updates to client
  • Manages and executes all new client accounting onboarding processes and tasks including:
  • Schedule and task calendar for each client
  • Payroll setup (moving payroll provider if needed)
  • GL mapping
  • Update accounting records and correct accounting practices of client, create efficiencies in client’s accounting file (bank rules, automatic report generation, etc.)
  • Produce first month of full-charge bookkeeping work
  • Ensure all adjusting entry schedules are correct
  • Draft accounting manual and accounting checklist for all new clients (using templates)
  • Smooth transition to internal accounting team
  • Other onboarding duties as required
  • Initiates and implements continuous improvement in the client onboarding processes to improve the client experience (quality and ease of transition), internal team workflows, and efficiency

Personal Attributes

  • Excellent attention to detail, meticulous project management, process design and implementation skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate with clients with poise and professional effectiveness;
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable with, and like using, new technologies
  • Ability to manage onboarding multiple clients simultaneously;
  • Self-starter, independent worker, focused on continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, CPA preferred
  • 7+ years of related experience. Accounting/Financial operating knowing including processes and systems set-up and project management skills required
  • Experience as accountant, performing bank and credit card reconciliations, AP/AR accounting, payroll, monthly close, adjusting entries, and financial statement preparation
  • Experience running and setting up payroll preferred
  • Experience using QuickBooks Online preferred
  • Experience with other accounting software is a plus
  • Exceptional customer service skills required
